Licensing Requirements

Florida requires fire protection contractors to hold specific licenses issued by the Division of State Fire Marshal. License categories include Fire Protection System Contractor I (fire sprinkler systems), Contractor II (fire alarm systems), Contractor III (pre-engineered systems), Contractor IV (portable fire extinguishers), and Contractor V (special hazard systems). Technicians performing inspections must work under a licensed contractor. NICET certification is widely recognized and often required by Authorities Having Jurisdiction throughout Florida. Companies must carry minimum liability insurance of $300,000 and maintain workers' compensation coverage.

Inspection Frequency Requirements
